Income limits are as of April 2024. Income limits are subject to change.
Preference is given to households who live or work in Dakota County or to households that do not have a permanent address in Dakota County, but receive benefits from Dakota County Employment & Economic Assistance (such as DWP, GA, MFIP, MSA, and SNAP), and whose incomes are between the preference and maximum income limits for the program.
After you submit your application to the CDA:
Step 1. The application is screened for initial eligibility.
Step 2. If you are eligible, you will be placed on the waiting list and will receive a confirmation email.
Step 3. Once your name approaches the top of the list, you will receive communication from the CDA to start the program eligibility process.
Step 4. Staff will verify your income, rental history, credit and criminal background check. Your application fee is due at this time.
Step 5. Your application will be approved or denied.
- If approved: you will be placed on the waiting list until a unit becomes available.
- If denied: you will be removed from the waiting list. You may apply again if your situation changes and you meet eligibility requirements.
Step 6. You are offered a unit when one becomes available.
To update your address or household members on your application, log on to your account at www.myhousing.dakotacda.org. Once your changes have been processed, you will receive a confirmation email.
